How to Root Samsung Galaxy A50 SM-A505GN Software Update December 2019

How to root Samsung Galaxy A50 SM-A505GN ASL3 firmware using TWRP + Magisk root method. December 2019 Software Update and Android security level patch December 1, 2019. It may be works for other variants SM-A505F, SM-A505FN, SM-A505GN, SM-A505G, SM-A505FM, SM-A505YN. This Root method use TWRP and Magisk. Step by step Rooting Samsung Galaxy A50 SM-A505GN Android 9 Pie, December Software Update

Rooting Galaxy A50 SM-A505GN Android 9 Pie with TWRP and Magisk:

    1. Make sure the bootloader are unlocked, OEM unlock option is grey
    2. Enter Download Mode : Turn Power Off. Press and hold Volume Up key + Power Key, When Samsung Logo appears release Power Key only, keep pressing Volume Up key until Android Recovery Mode Appears. Select Reboot to bootloader.
    3. Open ODIN, IMPORTANT!: Uncheck “Auto Reboot” in Options!
    4. Connect to the phone to computer
    5. Flashing TWRP_3.3.1_A50_A505_ASK9_MAGISK_PATCHED.tar as AP in ODIN, then click start.
    6. Magisk is now successfully flashed to your device! Several steps before you can properly use the device.
    7. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP! Press and hold Volume Down + Power Key, when the screen blank quickly press and hold Volume Up + Power key, when Samsung Logo appears release Power key only, keep pressing Volume Up key until TWRP Recovery Mode Appears.
    8. Select Wipe -> Format data.
    9. Copy multidisabler-samsung-2.2.zip to phone
    10. Install multidisabler-samsung-2.2.zip
    11. Select Reboot to Recovery
    12. Setup the phone
    13. Connect the phone to Internet wait for a moment, make sure OEM unlock option is grey
    14. Install Magisk Manager. Magisk Manager will ask to do additional setups. Let it do its job and the app will automatically reboot your device.
    15. Done! You can use Root Checker to check it, Enjoy!

If something goes wrong and you want to unroot it, just flash the ROM to make it works again. Read How to flash Galaxy A50 SM-A505F.

Notes / Warning!

  1. Use at your own risk, I’m not responsible for bricking your device.

  3. If your target device has a custom firmware flash counter, Rooting will trigger it. If you’re lucky, Triangle Away has support for your device and can be used to reset the counter.
  4. If you have a KNOX-enabled device, Rooting will trip the KNOX WARRANTY VOID status !
  5. If your device storage is encrypted, Rooting will wipe your data !
  6. If you have locked bootloaders, flashing one of these will probably brick your device – with the exception of Nexus devices, which will usually automatically “OEM unlock” and wipe your data !
  7. Make sure to backup your important data before root it.
